Transformers lack inherent state, making counting a challenge for them. Instead of counting, they may estimate the number of characters on the initial attempt. As a result, the guess could be either right or wrong. In cases where the guess is incorrect, ChatGPT tends to rectify it in subsequent responses based on the previous output.
